I am in the event & wedding planning industry because during my junior year of college I was majoring in english education and felt like it just wasn’t right for me. I wanted to do something different and more exciting, something I could inspire more people through and make people happy with. I went to a “Major Mania” fair at my college at the time- the University of Delaware- and found the communications table. Everything on it seemed so exciting and really spoke to me. Later that year, I started planning my sister’s bridal shower as her Maid of Honor and fell in love with the process of planning an event.
Some inspirational figures that were really integral in encouraging me to be on the path that I’m on now are David Tutera, Cho Phillips (founder of Lovegevity), Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, and Olan Rogers. These are all people that I have looked up to because of their unwavering passion and work ethic.
My favorite quotes are, “If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives” -Lemony Snicket, and “Not all who wander are lost”. What sets me apart from others in my field is first, that I offer baked goods as well as event planning services. Then, other than the tangible, that I am the planner that will become your best friend and breathe your event/wedding day and night until your vision is a reality. I want my clients to feel like there are no other clients- it’s just them and me and their dream event.
The best advice I received was from Cho Phillips during the certification seminar I went to. She said, “The only way you can fail is if you quit. Once you know that, everything becomes easy. Success is easy.” Every time I feel like I’m not making progress, I remember what Cho said and pick myself back up again because I will not quit, so I will not fail.
