“I am a wedding/portrait photographer based in Orange County, CA. I love working with people and capturing special moments. Life has enough sorrow, I want to help people remember the good times.

Photography has always been a part of my life in one way or another, but it was mainly a hobby/side gig. I had been working as a bartender for almost 6 years and grew restless. I became miserable in my job and one day just took the plunge. Unsure, insecure and scared, I went into business for myself.

What sets me apart from others in my field is that I’m a very picky customer myself, so I treat my clients the way that I would expect to be treated. Client experience is of utmost importance to me. I am a people-pleaser at heart and that has been an asset for me in my business. People I look up to are Richard Branson, Tony Robins and Oprah. Favorite quote: “Every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him.” I learn something from everyone I meet. In an industry saturated with “rockstars”, I like being the learner, observer and friend. The best advice I got when starting out was from my grandfather: “Be the best and know your worth.”

Work/life balance is especially important for entrepreneurs. I work from home 90% of the time, so I have to make it a point to unplug. I workout for at least 1 hr per day, take scheduled lunches/breaks, and make time to read and learn. I also love to travel, which for me, is not a luxury but a necessity. I depend on staying inspired and creative to do my job successfully. I cannot afford to get burnt out.

People sometimes have a hard time when starting out because it’s such a huge gamble. Most people don’t want to leave the security of their job, the benefits, the schedule and the paycheck. But when you really have that “entrepreneur chip”, you’ll be miserable until you go for it. It’s not for everyone. It takes discipline, hard work and long hours. Owning a business isn’t glamorous. If you can do something else and be happy, do that instead! But if you can’t, then you are already an entrepreneur… so jump!”
